Wow! What a rollercoaster of a ride 2020 has been for us all. Now, I’m not a huge fan of rollercoasters and prefer the horse ride that just goes around and around. You know what you are getting on THAT ride.
Unpredictable, pivot, unprecedented, cancelled, vertical drinking, social distancing, isolation, stay home, Covidy, Rona…. these are just some of the words that were used a lot this year. Yet, the number one word most used this year was…. you guessed it…Covid.
At the beginning of the year, I had no idea that mask wearing, QR code check in, pivoting, zoom meetups, socially distancing, antibacterial hand wash etc were soon to be a part of our everyday lives.
We adjusted, we isolated, we survived. We made it this far due to our reverence for life and our resilience. Some of us lost loved ones, others lost their jobs and their businesses, others pivoted in new directions and had their busiest year on record. Some of us became teachers and home schooled our children for months on end.
We woke up every day, breathed in and out and got on with it. We were grateful for what we did have and made the best and most out of it.
Daily newfound gratitude for the small things was a huge help for me. Just stopping to smell the roses, literally, to look up, to look around, to bask in the sunshine, to appreciate our family and friends, our partners, our children and be grateful for what we have, no matter how small.
Over the next few weeks, make sure that you spend quality time with your family and friends, if you can, and be sensible. Be grateful that they are in your life. I know that I will be.
As 1st January 2021 rolls on, be realistic that no magic wand will be waved at midnight and erase the year that was. We will still enter January with Covid19 very much at the forefront and will probably have a year that will have its own struggles and problems. Stare 2021 in the face, be courageous, be grateful, be kind, be resilient and be gracious.
Thank you all for your support over this turbulent year. Thank you for listening, watching, liking, reading, loving, commenting and following. Without you, it just wouldn’t have been the same. Elana Bailey Photography thanks you.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a safe and wondrous New Year.
