Your birthday party is not about you, I get it

When you host or throw your birthday party, it is not about you. I get it.

You are not saying, “Look at me, aren’t I great!!” What you are really saying is, “thank you”. Thank you for your friendship. Thank you for being there for me, mum and dad. Thank you for our incredible bond that we have, sisters and brothers. Thank you for supporting and loving me, my husband or wife, partner in crime. Thank you, kids, for just being you. I am so very grateful for all that I have right now and for the relationships that I have too.

It is a celebration of the friends and family around you. Without them, you are not you and you are not able to be you, either.

I get it.
