I stupidly left my handbag unattended and some awful person stole it

It was the long weekend in June, in Adelaide. On the Saturday night, we had our Engagement Party at our house and it was an absolute hoot. I wasn’t a professional photographer then, but I did still take our photos on a point and shoot digital camera. The next day, on Sunday, we went to the McLaren Vale Sea and Vines Festival with good friends and had a ball. In fact, I had such a great time that I left my handbag unattended (stupidly) and some awful person stole it. In my handbag were my wallet, money, house keys, driver’s licence, credit cards, designer sunglasses and my digital camera. All gone. But the biggest loss was the SD card in my digital camera with the all photos from our Engagement Party on it. I had not downloaded the photos from the night before yet and all of our Engagement Party photos were lost, forever.

We had to call out a locksmith on the Monday Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday, which was super expensive, as you can imagine. If I had hired a professional Engagement Photographer, then I would still have the photos of our party. This was a hard lesson to learn, as we also didn’t have insurance too! We certainly have insurance now!

I am now older and so much wiser and a Professional Engagement and Wedding Photographer myself, ironically. I absolutely love photographing Engagement Parties and Weddings, meeting amazing people, being part of your special day(s) and capturing the joy and memories for you to keep forever (unlike my Engagement party photos!)

I tell this story, as my husband and I just celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary on the weekend. I'll save a story about our Wedding day, for another time.
