I know that some people have an Engagement Party and others chose not to, for personal reasons, and I get that. My husband and I DID have an Engagement Party at our house and it was an absolute hoot!! I wasn’t a professional photographer then but I did still take our photos on a point and shoot digital camera.

It was the long weekend in June, in Adelaide, and it was on the Saturday night. The next day, on Sunday, we went to the McLaren Vale Sea and Vines Festival with good friends and had a ball. In fact, I had such a great time that I left my handbag unattended (stupidly) and some awful person stole it. In my handbag were my wallet, money, keys, driver’s licence, credit cards, designer sunglasses and my digital camera. All gone.

We had to call out a locksmith on the Monday Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday, which is super expensive, as you can imagine. I had NOT downloaded the photos from our Engagement Party the night before and they were on the SD card in my camera, which was stolen. I never got it back. All our Engagement Party photos were lost. If I had hired a professional Engagement Photographer, then I would still have the photos of our party. This was a hard lesson to learn as we also didn’t have insurance too! We certainly have insurance now!

I am now older and so much wiser and a Professional Engagement and Wedding Photographer myself, ironically. I absolutely love photographing Engagement Parties and Weddings, meeting amazing people, being part of your special day(s) and capturing the joy and memories for you to keep forever (unlike my Engagement photos!)

As I have no photos of our Engagement party, I have uploaded some of our wedding photos all taken on film, in their frames, instead. This is also in celebration of our 14^th wedding anniversary that my husband and I will be celebrating next week.

So, if you would like to benefit from my misfortune and are having an Engagement Party, please do seriously consider having a Professional Engagement Photographer at your party, like me. It will be so worth it.
