MILESTONE BIRTHDAY PARTIES | DO WE HAVE AN EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER OR NOT?
August 15, 2018Your milestone birthday (21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th, 100th) is coming up. Do you book an Event Photographer to cover your birthday party, even if it is for an hour, or not?
My answer to that question is a resounding YES!! This isn’t because I am an event photographer, which I am, but to capture the joy, laughter, emotion, friendships, family and relationships for you to keep forever.
You have spent 40 or 50 or however many years on this earth. In that time, you have become part of a family, made your own family, created some incredible friendships and lived a wonderful life. Which you will continue to do.
Birthdays are about celebrating YOUR life. That is why you are having a birthday party. To celebrate your life, your family and your friendships that you hold dear.
A photographer friend of mine, who I met in Photography School some years ago, recently had her 40th birthday party. She asked me if I could photograph her birthday party. This I did and what a joyful celebration of her it was. So many brilliant friends, such laughter and such memories which are now captured forever. Although a daunting task for me as the party was full of photographers checking me out!!
I thought at the time, as she is an introvert, and most introverts don’t have big birthday parties, for obvious reasons, that it was unusual for an introvert to have a big party. Then I realised that the party and the photography were not about showing off or making it about her but about celebrating each person that is a part of her life. A thank you to them, as you will. She is one very special person and I am grateful for the moments in my life that we have had together.
So, do you have a milestone birthday coming up this year or next year? If so, are you grateful for the fabulous friendships and amazing family that you have in your life? If the answer is yes, then maybe you should consider having an event photographer at your milestone birthday too.
