If you really knew me you would know that I missed out on being a mother and having children of my own, due to a set of circumstances that would be my path.
From suffering from crippling endometriosis for years to finding out that my fallopian tubes were stuck together, so that IVF was our only way forward. To starting the IVF process and then pausing it so that I could complete my Diploma in Commercial Photography, to then have something happen that no-one could predict.
It is a sliding door moment, where I was accepted into studying Commercial Photography full time and I had the choice of proceeding with it or continuing with the IVF. I chose the Commercial Photography thinking that it was only a one year’s pause and I could resume the IVF the following year. But fate had other ideas and that was never to happen.
I won’t go into that now but we were unable to resume the IVF process again and I would never have a child of my own and be a mother, like my sisters are.
I have made my peace with it a long time ago but every year when Mother’s Day comes around, I love to find the joy in other families as they celebrate their mother and being a mother.
